Can Lonzo open a link I send it?
Reading links you send is part of the Assistant plan, which is coming soon. On that plan, paste a link into a message to Lonzo, along with what you want to know, and Lonzo opens it and reads it for you: it can summarize the page, pull out what you asked about, or answer questions from it.
It reads what the website shows to anyone. A public page works, and so does a Google Docs, Sheets or Slides file shared as anyone with the link. Lonzo never signs in to a website and never uses your Google account to open a link, so a private Google document stays private: Lonzo tells you it couldn't open it, and asks you to share it by link or paste the part you need. A page that needs a sign-in is one Lonzo can't read.
Lonzo reads only a link you paste into the message you're sending it. It doesn't open links in your mail, or a link from earlier in the conversation, so to have Lonzo read a link from an email, copy the link into your message. What it reads is information, never instructions: a page can't tell Lonzo to do something, and once Lonzo has read a page, anything it would send to someone else in that answer waits for you to say yes.
When Lonzo opens a link, the website receives the address you sent and the address of our server, as it would from any visitor, with a note that the request comes from Lonzo. It doesn't receive your name, your email address or your Google account. The Privacy Policy has the details.
