What is configured autonomy?
Configured autonomy is a standing preference, so a routine kind of mail gets dealt with without asking you every time. Every one of them lives under Account → Automation, every one is reversible, and every one is recorded in Activity.
Everything that decides where your mail goes starts off, with one exception you can turn off. You switch a behavior on, and that configuration is your authorization, exactly as with a human assistant. The four that start off are: silence a sender who floods you with repeat notifications, silence obvious bulk marketing so it skips your inbox, report obvious spam, and file mail you usually deal with later under a reminder. The exception: routine mail the assistant handles for you — newsletters, receipts, notifications that need nothing from you — is archived out of your inbox by default. It stays in Gmail, in All Mail, and is never deleted; everything archived this way is shown under Handled for you and in Activity with an Undo, and its switch is under Account → Automation ("Archive routine mail I handle for you") — switched off, every message stays in your inbox.
Two behaviors that only ever add something start on. When your mail states an appointment, it goes on your calendar; when it states a job title or a company for someone already in your contacts, that blank gets filled in. Neither one changes where the message itself goes — it stays in your inbox exactly as it was — each one is shown to you with an Undo, and either can be switched off under Account → Automation whenever you like. We say so here, and on the plan page, because switching them on is not something we asked you to do.
Handling your mail this way is part of the Assistant plan, which is coming soon — until then the controls are visible but inactive: they don't yet record a choice, and nothing acts on your mailbox, your calendar, or your contacts on its own.
It never sends mail on your behalf on its own
No standing preference makes Lonzo send anything — including an unsubscribe request. Obvious bulk marketing gets silenced instead, so it skips your inbox. If you want a sender unsubscribed, ask on one of their emails and that request is sent then.
The safeguards are non-negotiable: each configured action is reversible with one tap, always recorded in Activity, and saying "stop doing this" disables the behavior immediately and reverses what can be reversed. An undo sticks — an appointment you removed is not put back by a later look at the same message. Once the plan is available you can switch any of these behaviors on or off whenever you want.
